14K Gold Filled Pendant with Garnet Crystal from the Jeffrey Mine, Quebec, Canada

This piece was handcrafted by me in 14K gold filled wire and contains a rare and beautiful Garnet crystal from the Jeffrey Mine located in Quebec, Canada. This unique natural crystal is a variety of Garnet known as Grossular or Hessonite, and it displays the characteristic translucent orange coloration. The stone is in excellent condition, and exhibits great coloration and intact natural terminations. Garnets from this historic location are very rare in this quality and large size. The Jeffrey Mine is an important Canadian mineral collecting location that is world famous for it's gem Grossular Garnet and Vesuvianite specimens. The Jeffery Mine is a large Chrysotile mine that began operating in 1879. The mine produced many significant mineral discoveries during the 1970's and 1980's. The location is now closed and the lower levels of the mine are flooded with water. The pendant measures 31mm x 20mm and the 21mm x 19mm stone is very securely and artfully wrapped in 14K gold filled wire. This pendant is one of a kind. I have been making both traditional and wire wrapped jewelry for a retail store in Burlington, Vermont for the past ten years and I travel all over the world to find unique gemstones and fine mineral specimens.
